Minutes for Annual SAEPOA General meeting
October 5, 2010
Edgewood Community Center

Note: These minutes are intended to be a record of the topics discussed and the official business conducted during the meeting. They are not intended to be a transcript.

6:47 PM: called to order by president Jon Daffer. In attendance were Jerry Wymer, Dave Brown, Ben Brabb, Steve Woodard (Vice President), May Woodard, Deor Jenson, Linda Jenson, Wayne and Vicki Schober, John and Christy Sabo, Brian Barrett, Jeff Berg, Nadine Zabietek, Liz Lorenz, Alan Khucheck, Laura Tweed, Steve Woodard, Barbara Leonard, Janice Gabel, Jimmie and Mary Akins (Treasurer), Ken Summers (Secretary), Jon Daffer (President), Glen Zimmermann, and Mike Davisson.

Reports
Secretary's report: The secretary forgot to bring a copy of the minutes from the July meeting to be read. Brian Barrett moved to accept the minutes as emailed. The motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer's report: Treasurer Mary Akins handed out an account summary and an expense summary (in pie chart form). The current balance is $12,296.38. Vicki Schober asked if the airport dues are to be the same this year. Steve Woodard said no, and that one more house will be added. Motion to accept made by Vicki Schober, second by Mike Davisson. No further discussion. Motion carried unanimously.
Architectural committeeMaintenance committee Glen Zimmerman has been using his lawn tractor/mower and expressed the wish that the association would by a mower. Steve Woodard agreed that that would be a good idea. No further action was taken at that time.

President Daffer announced that ten (10) people have not paid dues from last year. He will be contacting them and attempting to settle accounts. Ben Brabb asked for clarification on when dues are due. They are due October 1, and are considered delinquent October 31.

Old business
Santa fly-in: Liz Lorenz is willing to run the Santa fly-in provided she receives enough support. A question was raised as to where the decorations, props, leftover gifts, etc. were. Liz answered that John (Lorenz) has it all. Volunteers for assistance were plentiful. The date was set for December 11, 2010. Vicki Shober moved SAEPOA donate $250 toward gifts and supplies for the Santa fly-in. Jimmie Akins seconded and the motion passed. Steve Woodard said that the airpark would match the donation. Liz mentioned that there were probably presents left over from last year that could be reused. Ken Summers volunteered to be the guest of honor again this year.

Jon Daffer thanked this years board and committee members. He also singled out Glen Zimmerman for all his work maintaining the common areas. Jon proposed donating $50 to Glen's expenses. A motion to that effect was made by Deor Jensen, seconded by Jimmie Akins, and passed unanimously.

New business
Vicki Shober suggested it would be a good idea for the association to by a mower. Brian Barrett suggested we also examine contracting out the mowing. Jon Daffer mentioned that snow removal was $575 last winter, and based on that he estimated it would easily be $1000 or more to contract out the mowing. A suggestion was raised that the association contract the mowing to a member. This would, in essence, formalize the way the job is done now with payments and work agreed to by all parties. Brian Barrett moved that the FY11 Maintenance Committee look at options. Seconded by John Sabo. Passed with one nay (who was just joking, presumably to fill the large silence).

Ken Summers brought up the idea of having only semi-annual meetings, rather than quarterly meetings. After a brief discussion, where the majority of opinions favored keeping the quarterly meetings, the idea was tabled. President Daffer announced that the board had voted to spend the money (that was voted on in the previous general meeting) on the roads. He talked to George Gonzalas. Chip seal was suggested, but there was a concern by some of the members present that chip seal might leave a lot of loose gravel. George thought cutting out the bad sections and redoing them was a better course of action. Ken Summers observed that, after a survey of the roads, he noticed the majority of the damage was in places where water could stand.

Elections
Mary Woodard, John Sabo, and Nadine Zabietek volunteered to count ballots. Secretary Summers proved the ballots and an accounting sheet. The results of the election are as follows.
President Brad Gabel (replacing Jon Daffer)
Vice President Ken Summers (replacing Steve Woodard)
Secretary Ben Brabb (replacing Ken Summers)
Treasurer Dave Brown (replacing Mary Akins)
Maintenance Committee: Jeff Berg, Wayne Shober, Glen Zimmerman
Architectural Committee: Mike Davisson, Cliff Goldman, Vicki Shober

There was a motion to adjourn by Ben Brabb, seconded by many. Motion passed, followed by a general stampede for the door.
